150 invitations

Plans for the wedding progressed significantly over spring break. The first thing I did was to go wedding dress shopping at Davids Bridal. I was planning on saving some money to help with the wedding dress cost but mom and dad said they wanted to buy it for me so we all went down to the store together.  It was really fun to have mom and dad there and I am glad they both came to share the experience! (I really am lucky in the parents that God gave me ).It took awhile to find just the right dress and it was a battle between two before I tried the last one on. I actually thought I was going to walk out with this dress: http://www.davidsbridal.com/bridal_gowns_detail.jsp?stid=3345&prodgroup=127

But then I tried on this one and decided instantly it was THE ONE! (Jake if you are reading this DO NOT click on this link! The dress has to be a surprise!)

Jake and I also walked around and looked at engagement rings and decided our colors for the wedding. The Bridesmaids are going to be in serene blue dresses from Davids Bridal that will probably look like this:

The color is actually darker in person and the sash and underskirt is supposed to be white not grayish…and the bow would probably be tied in the back and not in the front! The guys are going to be in traditional tuxedo’s with black bow ties unless Jake changes his mind.

We also bought our invitations at a discount store for fifteen dollars! They are super nice and we got 150 of them!  They are white with a silver border and silver hearts at the top. We were going to print them ourselves but since we got them for such a good price we are going to have them printed somewhere for us so the ink will look nice and will not smudge. We also got 100 tea light candles for the tables for less than $10.00. and some nice place cards for tables as well. We have lots of ideas and are trying to find friends to help us out with photography and flowers so we can save money on those things as well.  But, we have our menu for the reception figured out and we have plenty of ideas for decorating! I am sure wedding plans will slow down now that I am at school but I will keep all of you guys posted so you can know what is going on!

Going to the Chapel and We’re gunna get Married?

Yes! you read the title right! I am going to get married. After much discussion Jake and I have decided to get married in September…THIS September. I really am not going to have that much time to plan a wedding and get things together after Graduation in May, but it is going to be worth it. The reason I can’t plan anything right now is simply because I am taking 18hours, searching for a job, and currently have no money. So most things will have to wait awhile. One of the first things I need to figure out is what bridesmaid dresses I want so the girls can get them. However, my Maid of honor is in London and another bridesmaid is in Missouri….so that could prove problematic. I am thinking the bridesmaids that are in NC right now can go with me to go shopping to find what dresses we should get then I can let the other girls know so they can order them when they are ready or are able to. The ceremony is going to take place in Hertford where my father is pastoring right now. I know it seems like a long way to go for a wedding, but the church is free and they have a very nice area for the reception. The church also has round tables, table cloths, dishes, a HUGE kitchen, and a sound system. This is going to save Jake and I a lot of money and hassle, so I hope that the travel isn’t going to be that big of an issue for our guests. Invitations (according to the wedding web sites) will go out about two months before the wedding so be looking for those in June or July. That is about all of the info I have right now. I will keep everyone posted as things develop and if you have any suggestions feel free to send them my way!

Ohhh…. And the wedding colors are blue (serene blue, cornflower blue, tar heel blue, pool blue), Pink(bright pink accents, flowers, candles, etc., and of course, White).

Here are a few bridesmaid dresses I like so far:
